Duty Case Dismissed

Visiting Judge John Dietz ruled September 7 that he would not issue a citation in District Attorney Jana Duty’s removal suit, in effect dismissing the case. After several stalls, County Attorney Dee Hobbs recently filed the petition; initially brought by two Georgetown residents. Judge Dietz had authority to suspend Duty from office immediately if the case had gone to trial and a jury could have voted to remove her. Duty’s term ends December 31, 2016.
