Members of the public, employees and distinguished guests took part in a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the new Williamson County Georgetown Annex. Congressman John Carter joined approximately 100 guests for the event, which included the singing of the National Anthem by the EVHS Choir. The official ceremony was followed by tours of the new two-story, 60,000 sq.ft building. The building is the new home of Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey, Constable Kevin Stofle and Justice of the Peace Evelyn McLean as well as Purchasing, Human Resources, Veterans Services, and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. The building also holds multiple meeting and conference rooms and a training/teaching space for AgriLife Extension. The Congressman said, “As Williamson County continues to grow, the Georgetown Annex will serve as a highly functional space to assist our county residents. It’s an exciting addition to our community, and I look forward to watching all of the great work continue in the new facility.” Commissioner Valerie Covey commented, “This is the first time the Precinct 3 officials have been in the same building, and we’re very excited to be just down the hall from each other. But it not just us, we have seven departments that are located here together, and all are working hard every day to service our citizens.”
