Letters to the Editor: Support for Valerie Nicholson for City Council

I highly recommend Valerie Nicholson for our District 2 Council Representative. Valerie is an accomplished business person that has exhibited great passion for the city of Georgetown. I have served with Valerie on several committees and boards and I have been impressed with her decision making and leadership skills. I recommend Valerie Nicholson for our District 2 Council Representative.

__________

I’m writing this letter to express my heartfelt support of Valerie Nicholson. I have had the pleasure of interacting with the Nicholson family on a personal level for over 7 years, as their three sons have attended Ms. Mac’s Shining Stars School here in Georgetown. I have witnessed the manner in which they raise their family and are guided by their strong faith. In addition, Valerie has been involved in Georgetown for years and understands the unique quality of life here that we all work hard to maintain. It is for these reasons that I support Valerie Nicholson for District 2 in the upcoming election.

__________

National elections are important – no question. But local ones are even more important. These folks impact our lives in a way that is misunderstood. Want to get something done about Georgetown? Look to the elected officials in our own backyard.

I’ve had the pleasure of serving on many non-profit projects with Valerie Nicholson, candidate for District 2. Sometimes you meet someone and see immediately that they “get it”. Valerie has the heart of a mother but the head of an excellent businesswoman. She bridges the gap between fiscal responsibility and caring for those in need in our community. In other words, exactly what we need at this moment in Georgetown’s history!

Valerie has taken the time out of her very busy schedule to serve the citizens of Georgetown. Please join me in supporting the “Vote for Val” campaign. She is a treasure and we need her sound advice and council during this time of incredible growth for the town we love so much!

__________

Georgetown is on the right path for success and I am happy to be as involved as I can with our business, our family, and our friends. I am honored to personally interact with the GISD Superintendent, School Board members, City Council members, the Mayor, and most importantly the hundreds of volunteers who give so tirelessly to our beautiful city.  I felt the need to reach out in regards to one specific election, City Council member District 2.  We have been so fortunate to have Keith Brainard for many years, and I would congratulate him for a duty well served and wish him the best of luck in his retirement.

Candidate Valerie Nicholson is the right choice for conservative leadership, and I have been so fortunate to know her personally and watch her tenacity for family, faith, friends, small business, and the City of Georgetown for the last 4 years. She has served on the Museum Board, Commission on Aging, and has engaged in numerous activities all throughout the city.

She works hard to keep Georgetown among the top places in the United States to live and raise a family. She will govern from a local perspective, focusing on the needs of  her district, but as importantly, the needs of all of Georgetown.  Valerie’s dedication to involvement across all levels of the City is apparent, and is what makes her the candidate I would choose for City Council District 2.

– Member of the GISD District Performance Council

– Friend of the Georgetown Public Library

Through her involvement, she already devotes her time, talent, and treasures to our City.   Let’s put her in a position to really be able to make a difference.

One of the best things about Georgetown is the people. Our citizens are above average when it comes to community engagement and service. The collaboration between the city, county, schools, businesses, and non-profits is truly unique. Respect and cooperation mean taxes are low, our city is safe, our community is thriving. Valerie Nicholson has played a role in shaping Georgetown into this incredible place for years, and will continue to provide the kind of leadership we need to stay on this positive path. I support Valerie for District 2 and urge voters to elect her to our City Council.
